Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi, Biography

Posted on: June 18, 2008

Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi is the khanwada of Silsila-e-Azeemia. A student to whom the complete mental framework of the founder (Imam) of that Spiritual order is transferred, which the founder spiritually inherited from the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, is called the Khanwada of that Sufi Order. Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi’s forefathers came from province of Herat, Afghanistan to India. One of his forefathers went to Pani Pat to meet with the great Saint of this time, H.Mubarak with his two sons. H.M.Q liked those sons too much and took them under his wing.

Azeemia – Birth

Hazrat Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi belongs to one of the two Children. He was born on 17th October 1927, in Qasba-e-Pirzaadgan in the district of Sahranpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His lineage goes back to Hazrat Abu Ayub Ansari, the famous host of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. His father’s name was Haji Anis Ahmed Ansari and mother’s name was Umat-ur-Rehman. His mother was a Pure and Pious woman. And at the time of birth of Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi, the azan of Fajar was calling. Before the birth of Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi, his mother saw a dream that there was a very dark night without moon. When she saw towards the sky, she saw the sky full of bright stars. She saw that one star fell from the sky and she spread her cloak and the star fell in her lap. The Interpretation of that dream was told that one Sufi would be born amongst her children and the universe shall attain brightness from his soul.

Azeemia – Initiation

He lived with and served his spiritual master Hazoor Qalander Baba Auliya (r.h.) for sixteen years until Hazoor Qalander Baba Auliya (r.h.) departed this physical world. During this long companionship, Hazoor Qalander Baba Auliya (r.h.) prepared his able student, both at conscious and subconscious levels, to enable transference of his spiritual knowledge to him. When Hazoor Qalander Baba Auliya (r.h.) was about to pass away he blew three times on Al-Sheikh Azeemi’s forehead and uttered…….”You are to take my place and run my Silsila (Sufi Order) after me… the people who run a mission work obsessively”. Al Sheikh Azeemi acted upon the advice of his spiritual master and worked day and night to promote his mission to all corners of the world. As a result, the Azeemia Sufi Order is now a well-known and respected Silsila across the globe.

Azeemia – Books

He has authored hundreds of booklets and forty five books to date on metaphysical science, some of which have been translated into English, Sindhi, Arabic, Persian and Russian languages. In one of his books, ‘Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, (volume 1), he has portrayed, in a unique way, the Holy Prophet’s struggle and efforts to spread his mission. Volume 2 of the same book presents scientific explanations of the miracles performed by him. He has also written a commentary on Hazoor Qalander Baba’s spiritual science book Loh-o-Qalum. Light and Colour Therapy is another field he has introduced in Pakistan and abroad in his unique scientific style. His book on the subject presents this healing method from theory to practice and includes useful practical advice based on his decades of experience in this field. In order to encourage reading and to promote learning of the inner knowledge he has established more than ninety Roohani Libraries (Spiritual Libraries) worldwide. His books are taught not only in The Qalander Shaour Academy but also in a number of colleges and universities in Pakistan and abroad. He has been invited to give lectures at several universities and other educational establishments in Pakistan and abroad, which include Glasgow University, Arthur Findley College London, Karachi University, Faisalabad Agricultural University, Lahore Bar Council, and King Edward Medical College. He was also presented with the shield of Waltham stow Town, London by the then Mayor of Waltham stow.

Azeemia – Societies for Promotion of Education

He has established a public school in the remote area of Surjani Town, Karachi, especially for the benefit of children from low earning families. This Society aims to promote the education of modern science as well as the Quran and Islam in general, and is planning to establish high standard Educational Institutions, libraries and research bodies. It also has a separate Islamic School (madrasa), Behr-ul-Nur (The Sea of Light), wholly devoted to Quranic education e.g. memorisation of the Holy Quran (hifz) and Arabic text reading (naazrah).

Azeemia – Editorship

Al-Sheikh Azeemi is also the Chief Editor of Roohani Digest. He has been writing columns for various newspapers and magazines for the past thirty-two years, which cover a variety of spiritual subjects. Hundreds and thousands of people have benefited from the advice and solutions he has offered to their social, financial, psychological and health problems. He has answered numerous questions on paranormal manifestations and spiritual phenomena to the satisfaction of curious minds.

Azeemia – Mission

One thing that stands out in Al-Sheikh Azeemi’s teachings is the way he tries to arouse feelings of love for Allah in people’s hearts. He has unveiled the mysteries surrounding spiritual knowledge and removed it from an unrealistic and concocted traditional image and introduced and taught it as a science to the satisfaction of the modern scientific mind. He has appeared in several talk shows, live programmes on various radio and television stations in Pakistan, UAE, Gt. Britain, Europe, Canada and USA. He was especially invited to enlighten the audience and viewers on the inner knowledge and so answer any questions or queries they might have had on the subject. He is a staunch supporter and promoter of women’s rights and gender-equality. In his words, “The same soul operates in both men and women, and they are therefore equally capable of progressing in the spiritual field”. In his view, it is mere male bigotry to consider women as inferior or less intelligent. Al-Sheikh Azeemi’s mission and his invitation to the whole of mankind is that they should learn the inner knowledge, realize their latent potential so that they may get to know The Lord Creator of the universe and hence enjoy a peaceful life both here and in the Hereafter.

Purpose of Teachings

The Eternal Being, for spreading light, creates those whose mission is to preach about the instability of this world. They become instrumental in introducing the Lord Creator and teach to have an established relationship with Him. Gist of the teachings of his divine grace Qalander Baba Auliya (r.h.) is that man has not been created to remain in pursuit of livelihood only for earning bread and to wear clothes but the first and foremost purpose of his creation is that he should recognize his own self and have an intimate introduction with his benefactor, the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, because of whose blessings we are fortunate enough and deviations from the prophetic way of thinking has led us to our spiritual decline and lack of peace and love amongst ourselves.
